A message to guys looking for a date with Rihanna: You may have to go through Jay-Z first.
"I just found out from a mutual friend that guys will talk to Jay first before they try to approach me," Rihanna, 19, told PEOPLE at a Venus Breeze event in New York City (her gams were named this year's "Celebrity Legs of a Goddess").
Rihanna, whose third album,
Good Girl Gone Bad, features her hit duet with Jay-Z, "Umbrella," says she appreciates the rapper looking out for her.
"He's very protective," she says of her mentor, who discovered her and signed her to his Def Jam label. "Jay has my best interests in mind. If it's a good guy I know Jay won't shut him down. But if he's not, Jay will be like, 'No, no, no.' "
And exactly who are the guys trying to court Rihanna? "He actually never tells me. I have no clue who they are and I guess I'll never know," she says.
The singer, who says she received many compliments from her male fans after showing off her
newly toned figure at the MTV Movie Awards last week, admits that her busy schedule makes dating difficult, but hopes to "get a date in sometime soon."
The Barbados-born chanteuse says she prefers "tall guys who have a sense of humor, love to laugh, have a good time and good conversation," and describes her idea of a good date as "low key, just hanging out and watching a movie."

Rihanna Has Great Gams
10-Jun-2007

Singer Rihanna is awarded 2007 Celebrity Legs of a Goddess.
The world’s leading female shaving brand Gillette named singer Rihanna their 2007 Venus Breeze Celebrity Legs of a Goddess. Venus Breeze, the newest razor from the company, presented Rihanna with the title at a New York City awards ceremony on Friday.
Rihanna will work with Venus Breeze to judge the 2007 “Legs of a Goddess” contest, a nationwide search for a woman with great legs and confidence. The competition is a promotion celebrating the launch of Venus Breeze, the first 2-in-1 razor with built-in shave gel bars. Last year’s Celebrity Legs of a Goddess winner was Mariah Carey, who was honored with a 16 foot statue of her famous gams at Radio City Music Hall in New York. She was also the first celebrity to be given the title.
Information from Singersroom News was used in this article.
Def Jam diva Rihanna had one of the hottest hits of 2005 with her single “Pon De Replay” from her debut disc. The anthem, along with her rippling voice and stunning looks, made her a household name. And then came the DJ banger “S.O.S.” off her sophomore set, reconfirming that the Barbados beauty was a pop star on the rise.
Just three years after grabbing radio waves, the R&B starlet has released her third disc, which has fans anxiously awaiting the next big thing from the singer.
The disc, titled “Good Girl Gone Bad,” is already doing quite a bit of good. The first single, a hip- hop track called “Umbrella,” featuring Jay-Z, rocketed to the top of Billboard’s Top 100.
To add to the fact that she has a new album, she just signed on as the new face of CoverGirl and is the hot cover and revealing article for Giant and Complex magazine’s June issue. Yes, it seems the singer really does have it all covered.
At a party celebrating the Giant issue, Rihanna came out with a new look and a new attitude. Slender and sleek, the singer said that creating her new image was all her idea.
“Usually, the process involves a lot of people,” she said of putting together her image for the new album. “But this time, like why I called the album ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ ... I didn’t care what anyone else wanted me to look like. I didn’t even talk to anybody about it. I just did me. I didn’t care if they liked it; I was sticking with it.”
It is definitely a style that’s working for her. After all, it is the new face of CoverGirl cosmetics; a fact that Rihanna revels in.
“It’s a blessing. It’s another dream come true for me,” she said of the contract. “And I get a lot of free makeup, so it all works out.”
When asked about handling her look with CoverGirl and at the same time keeping in mind the responsibility in her image for young girls, Rihanna commercially replied, “Every woman has several personalities. Every woman has that bad girl and every woman has the little girlie feminine side. CoverGirl brings that out in me.”
Well, not much to be said about all that. After all, she is a spokesmodel for the brand. However, Rihanna did bare her soul in Giant mag’s latest issue, though. The article reveals the singer’s rough childhood watching her father battle a crack addiction. She told reporters that she had no intention to share that part of her life, but sometimes in being comfortable talking with people, certain things come up in the conversation.
“I think that my private life should be in private, but it depends on the person – I get comfortable. I don’t regret it at all,” she said of the article. “Everybody has something that makes them stronger in their life. [My childhood experiences] helped to make me a stronger person and a stronger woman. That is very necessary in this industry and in this career. I need to be strong and I need to be very responsible. My childhood helped me to do that.”
Rihanna has grown as an artist and as a person with the new project and said that she feels more comfortable now being herself.
“I don’t have to think about, ‘Should I have done that?’ I don’t really care. The fans, they relate to people that are real and true to themselves.”
“Good Girl Gone Bad” is available in stores now. For more on Rihanna, check out her artist page at www.defjam.com.
Rihanna is a huge fan of Amy Winehouse.
The 'Umbrella' singer says she has a lot of respect for the 'Rehab' star because she doesn't care what anyone else thinks about her.
She said: "I love her. She's so real. She's like, 'This is who I am - whatever.'"
Rihanna is not the only celebrity singing Amy's praises.
Bruce Willis loves the singer's latest album 'Back To Black', and is equally impressed with her hard-drinking exploits.
He said: "Amy f***ing Winehouse! Amazing. She has a f***ing amazing voice! She's kind of like Janis Joplin, hits a bottle of Jack from time to time."
Amy, who recently married Blake Fielder-Civil in a secret US ceremony, has admitted she would quit singing to start a family.
She said: "I know I'm talented but I wasn't put here to sing. I was put here to be a wife and a mother and to look after my family.
"I love what I do but it's not where it begins and ends."

Album REVIEWS RIGHT HERE....SEE BELOW
o Umbrella (featuring Jay-Z) – This track was the best choice for a first single, and will most definitely be the single of the summer.o Push Up On Me – Catchy hook, rhythmic beat, sexually-charged lyrics all make this another great club song on the album. It’s definitely not the best, but it’s incredibly fun to listen to.o Don’t Stop The Music – This cut has incredible blow up potential, especially with it’s clever interpolation of “Wanna Be Startin’ Something.” It’s definite my favorite of all the dance cuts on the album, and should definitely be a single.o Breakin’ Dishes – Here Rihanna channels her inner Nelly Furtado with a track that sounds remarkably like “Maneater” yet she sounds equally great. o Shut Up and Drive – Confirmed as the second single, this heavy guitar dance track is definitely one to listen on the road. My only complaint is I have a feeling this might get used in another car commercial.o Hate That I Love You (featuring Ne-Yo) – This track is Rihanna’s “Irreplaceable,” and joins her again with R&B hitmaker Ne-Yo. It’s a definite standout on the album, and is a great balance to all the dance-pop.o Say It – Combining a trippy Asian-sounding beat with some interesting sound effects, “Say It” is a brave display of music experimentation.o Sell Me Candy – Don’t let the silly sounding title fool you, this song is just as addicting as candy and is sure to get people hype to get their groove on.o Lemme Get That – Timbaland and Justin Timberlake get together to make an incredibly addicting song with an incredibly anthemic chorus and a use of band sounds that rivals any “Hollaback Girl.”o Rehab – In my humble opinion, this is the best track on the album. In this second JT/Timbaland production, Rihanna sings, “It’s like I checked into rehab/Baby you’re my disease.” Set on the beat of a tambourine, the passionate lyrics come together to make a clever artistic combination.o Question Existing – Here Rihanna experiments with her sound in a sort of new wave R&B way – very reminiscent of Aaliyah. This is a very solid cut, and definitely worth a few listens.o Good Girl Gone Bad – The title track is definitely the most lyrically strong song on the album and like “Hate That I Love You” is guitar driven, which is something nice to hear as opposed to the cheesy ballad to close most pop albums today.Review written by Louis Tullo for The Sweet Escape Blog. Rihanna: Punked!

Tags for this article: Barbados, Beyonce, Bob Marley, Jay Z, Rihanna, Sean Paul
Though she’s a pop princess and bona fide Cover Girl, Rihanna is just like the girl next door. Earthy and hilarious, she’s a jubilant 19-year-old who cracks jokes, pulls pranks and keeps it real, no matter what the questions are.
On being a “bad” girl…
“The last bad thing I did was yesterday in my video for “Umbrella.” We shot the video yesterday. The last shot of the last day, I got all painted in silver, almost butt naked (she whispers). That was one of the scenes in the video. I felt liberated. I felt free and I felt like I was a “good girl gone bad.” It was a pretty cool thing to do. I never thought that in a million years I would paint myself up to my nostrils in silver and do a video. It was fantastic. It was one of my favorite scenes in the entire video.”
On her favorite reggae…
“Of course Bob Marley. I love Sean Paul. I love Beenie Man. Bounty Killer is still one of my favorites. Vybz Kartel. “Redemption Song” is my all time favorite. I actually perform that song when I went on world tour with Jay-Z. I performed that song the entire tour, every night, and in Africa they really, really loved it. They put all their lighters up and they were singing. It was such an experience! It felt so good. I love performing that song. I just sit on a stool and sing it like nobody’s business.”
On ugly days…
“Every woman has a fat day. Every woman has an ugly day. Every woman has a day when they ask where did these five pimples come from all of a sudden? I only went to sleep last night with a clean face. I hate those days.”
On growing a booty…
“I had a hard time finding jeans because I was always too skinny and too tall. When you’re skinny you have to buy them small. When they’re too small they’re too short. That’s why I forced myself to put weight on. I started eating like crazy when I was a teenager. I was like Mom I’m too skinny. I want to get fat! And finally I filled out a little bit. I got a little butt. I got a little hips. And I felt great! Let me do it now! Now I find jeans!”
On winding…
“There was the bogle that everybody knows. The butterfly. A lot of our dances in Barbados are influenced by Jamaica. We also have this thing called a wuk-up. But it really is a wind in double time. It’s fast. We dance to everything like that. No matter what song it is, it’s automatic for us to move our waist to everything.”
On why the Jay-Z relationship rumor…
“I guess it’s just the affiliation with him. Being a female and being on his label and having a close business relationship. I guess that sparks the rumors. I’m guessing. Because there’s no other way. At first it was funny, like Ah this is so funny! Why would they think this? Really? Ew. Then it was like they’re still talking about this? This is getting a little frustrating now. Can they cut this out? Because it got really intense where people just weren’t letting up. Then it turned into a “beef” between me and Beyonce. I was like where are these people going with this? This is crazy.”

Bajan beauty Rihanna used to have fierce physical fights with her siblings.
Rihanna told Complex magazine: "We used to fight and when I say fight, I
don't mean arguments, I mean physically fight. I hit the older one in his
face with a glass bottle. My mom was pretty upset."
The 19-year-old R'n'B star also revealed she has a crush on 'The Fast and
the Furious' actor Paul Walker, 33, and would love to date him.
Rihanna said: "What's that guy's name who was in that movie with Jessica
Alba? Paul who was in 'Fast and the Furious' - Paul something - I think he's
really hot."
Meanwhile, Rihanna - who shows off her new bob hairstyle and super-toned body in the music
video for worldwide hit 'Umbrella, ' admits she owes her fantastic figure to grueling exercise and a
strict no-carbs diet.
She said: ""I like carbs but at the end of the day, carbs are the enemy. It
wasn't so much losing weight as being fit and toned and healthy. I just
didn't feel great.
"Now I'm working out and trying to eat healthy. That's making me lose weight
without even thinking about it."
Rihanna, 19, has been giving special attention to her curvaceous butt.
She added: "I work with a trainer. We work on the arms and we work on my
butt, because I love my butt. But my legs are my main focus. I'm obsessed."
The singer's fitness regime includes a cardio workout, weight training two
to three times a week and a specially devised eating regime.
Rihanna has been eating lots of carrots, lettuce, cucumbers and egg whites,
snacking on fruit all day and drinking plenty of water to achieve her
desired body.

Above you can see pictures of Rihanna on the set of her new video “Shut Up & Drive”. Now as I previously posted this song is hot, it’s definitely one of my best Rihanna songs. You can see in the pictures Rihanna looking sexy in her new look & her new style and I must admit I love it! As you can see, her 1st single is making history & hopefully her album will do well when it’s released this Tuesday. Also we have a new rumor, as some Rihanna fan site is stating that the director said that “Don’t Stop The Music” was also shot, umm interesting but we still don’t have any confirmation, until then, we have to wait for the new Rihanna music video.
